11 days!
August 10th, 2003Amazing! It’s been 11 days since I last made an entry in this blog. <sigh> Ah, well thus go good intentions.
The reason why is simple, if not obvious. Not much noteworthy has happened (at least not to me). I didn’t really want to do an “I awoke and ate breakfast at noon I had lunch ” type of live-trivia blog. Ironically, most of life is repetitive and ordinary. On work days I get up around the same time, eat lunch at the same place, drive the same path, work with the same people all very ordinary and quite repeatable!
But, now that 11 days have passed I do have a little news to share.
An update on my brother’s business: he and Katrina have taken ownership of the Power House gym, and have been running it just over one week. So far, things seem to be going very well and they are in the black. It has turned out to be both more of a challenge to buy and more work then I think either was expecting but they are just as enthused about it as anyone can be.
An update on Lisa’s business: her single Cape Cod Crafters location has already crossed over into black (net sales exceeding rent) after only 20 days. She expects to sell at least another $100 by the end of the month and use that profit towards rent on a second location. She should be in two locations by August 15th. Not bad, considering this is the slowest month of the year and Christmas sales should be several multiples higher!
An update on Zuzu leg: she’s had the surgery and is getting along fairly well now. She is still hesitant about jumping up on things (like beds and couches) but can navigate stairs just fine.
Movie Review #1: Holes
I went and saw the movie, though I haven’t read the book yet. It was pretty good, but obviously aimed at “young adults” as opposed to just-plain-old-adults. The cast was pretty amazing for such a light weight movie, and I’m not sure all of the literary tropes translated well to the silver screen. This book is the next I have scheduled to read and fully expect it to be better then the movie.
Movie Review #2: Seabiscuit
This movie was so hyped as an amazing, heartwarming, spiritually uplifting summer piece that I would have been thoroughly disappointed NOT to have been bawling my eyes out half way through. Needless to say, this movie was excellent and not a disappointment at all. I can recommend this movie to everyone!
Well that’s enough for now. I have to go and watch the Roast of Dennis Miller on Comedy Central tonight. I’m sure I’ll have more to say next week. Take care until then!
