In his closing remarks, Bush made two of the best points I’ve heard all
night. 1) we will continue to have an all volunteer army (thus, no
draft). 2) “We have climbed the mountain and see the green valley of
peace below.”
I’d love to hear the pundits, now. I’ve got my impressions up and on the
web. I’ll edit them for formatting reasons … But they are going to
stay as is. Now, I’ll listen to FOXNews, MSNBC, etc.
Jay Severen (WTKK in Boston) talked about three realities, the debate,
the pundits evaluation, and then the vote. I can honestly say … I have
no idea who won!!!

Hey, Kerry never wilted nor waivered in his life. Whew! That’s a relief.

Bush still comes off as way-too eager. Instead of a cool and calm
debater, he get’s very excited and tries to respond without leave of the
moderator. I know this doesn’t matter, in the greater scheme of things
… And is how I would react, but I am not a professional! The Prez
needs to calm down.
Also, it’s hard for Kerry to call Bush a unilateral world actor
(concerning Iraq) and then complain that he is not acting unilateral
enough (!) when reacting to Iran & N. Korea.
Did Kerry just mention “Back-door draft?” Oh, no he di’int! That
was crazy, he’s trying his hardest to rerun the 72 campaign … He
really is. I swear to God that Kerry wants this to be a peace, love, and
understanding campaign in the face of a cruel and cold Nixon.
Unfortunately, this is not the 70′s, this is not Vietnam, and Bush is
not Nixon.
Kerry’s position is not really as confused and contradictory as it
seems. His position is simple: I am against whatever Bush is for, if you
hate him then vote for me! That’s why saying we “went it alone” in Iraq
and then “we’re not doing enough” in N. Korea. Unfortunately, people who
hate Bush enough to vote for Kerry, are already going to vote for Kerry.
Which swing states, and undecided voters is he appealing to? None that I
know!

By the way, I’m looking at John Kerry’s Blog and
George W. Bush’s Blog … Kerry’s site has a “live blog” which
doesn’t seem to be updating very often. G.W.B.’s site has not even
loaded yet … It must be totally slammed with page requests.

Hey Bush just said “rue the day!” — I wonder if he made someone a bet
on which words / terms he could get into the debate. I wonder if he’ll
find a way to work the word “aluminium” in, somehow.
At least Kerry agrees that we were attacked. I’m not sure he was going
to.

I’m sorry, but Bush’s rebuttal was lame. Kerry may be wrong, but Bush’s
rebuttal was just … Lame. Also, when you only have 30 seconds, staring
into the camera for 10 is a bad idea.

I think that Bush’s statements about, “I don’t think my opponent was
misleading you when he stated that Saddam was a threat.” It’s a pretty
good strategy, to agree with your opponent when you know that his
then position is radically different from his now position.

I was alive during that period, and the Prez went to the UN and spent
MONTHS trying to get them to get involved. France promised to veto any
security resolution. Kerry may want to get more countries involved …
But France, Germany, and Russia do not WANT to get involved. I really
don’t think they care who is the current American President … They
will not get involved and they will not move troops. What’s Kerry’s plan
when, after getting the job, he asks and Chirac says “no” ???

Hmm, Bush has said that before … It sounds lame to say it over and
over again. Maybe that’s the way to do things on TV.
We could play a drinking game, “every time Kerry mentions Vietnam – take
a sip!” … I’d be drunk by now (luckily, I’m at working and not
drinking). I can not imagine how many times this will come up before the
end of the 90 minutes!
If I ever wanted to live in the 70′s I certainly don’t want to now. I’ve
heard more about the 1972 then about 1992 or 2001. Which century is this
again?

Kerry seems to be doing a lot of note writing. What is he writing? His
memoirs?
Did I just hear, “Help is on the way!” – oh.my.god. I really don’t need
to hear that again, I really don’t.
