A Walk In The Woods

May 14th, 2005

This morning I read some Robert Frost, and so after getting some breakfast at my (new) favorite diner I took a walk in the woods. I’ve lived near this beautiful reservoir for over four years and this is the first time I tried walking around the lake.

It was beautiful, peaceful, and well worth it. It reminded me of my boyhood. We used to live on a little farm and going for walks, just for the joy of seeing what there was to see … was a common activity. It’s good to live with a purpose, but it’s OK to act without one, from time to time.

Here’s a photo or two.

Nice lake, Runester! We have a similar resevoir down the street from us.. Not quite as nice as your pics, tho. Lots of fish there.. My newest hobby: Shooting carp with my bow and arrow! The carp are spawning here, so I shot about 6 (~24 inches!) and had a big bar-b-q. Carp shooting is loads of fun– I highly recommend it for its therapeutic value, if you still have your bow..

BTW, here down in the old dominion, we ’s can shoot carp with rifles under certain conditions.. I’ve been thinking about giving that a try, too!
