Last night we had a hell of a time find a place to eat. All the good ones had 45 minute to 2 hour waits. We even tried a couple of not-so-good ones, & the service was so lousy we didn’t even get sat (I’m looking at you ‘Benjamins’)! We ended up at Quohogs, & had a lovely dinner, though.
Then we went back to Pelhams for music & drinks … accidentally walked right past a whole line waiting to get in & met our bartender at the door. He immediately let us in & comp’ed us the cover charge! Holey Crap, it was like being a regular at a casino. I guess we spent enough money last night to make an impression.
For the record, the perk felt good!
We got up too late for breakfast, again. Oh, well. Now we’re off to lunch on the wharf & then back to the Astor’s Beechwood mansion for the tour.
After last night’s difficulty getting into a restaurant (some had up to 2 hr waits!), I called ahead & made a reservation. So, at 6:30 pm we take a leasurely sail around the bay, just as the sun is setting, & then we go to a very nice, cozy restaurant named Zelda’s Cafe for dinner.
I think we’ve had enough of the bands & booze for this weekend. We’ll stay in & try something quieter.

The gf & I are in Newport, RI for the long Memorial Day weekend. We haven\’t been here in a couple of years & are glad to be back!We\’re in one of the nicest B&B\’s in all of Newport, Spring Street Inn. Very homey, and amazingly gracious hosts. We spent last night at a bar named Pelham, drinking & listening to a great cover band named BlockHead. We both acted & felt 10 years younger! This morning … not so much. Now we\’re off to see the mansions & other sites. I\’ll update again when I get a chance.

A long time friend of mine, Bob, let me know that he and his wife Kelly have just had a second child! So, here’s the new human, Madison Lee, in the arms of her big brother, Alexander. Cute as a button and full of promise and potential!

Congratulations, Bob & Kelly!

The bldg I work in is doing maintenance on the power system; everything is going for the weekend. So, last night I went in & turned off all of our IT servers. It was a little creepy & against my nature … I mean, I’m there to keep things working, not shut them down!
I get to go in again Sunday night & bring everything back up. Though the timing is inconvenient
- the act will be more natural.

This is being posted from my newly mobile friendly interface. Maybe, if I can blog from anywhere … I’ll blog more often.
One can only hope.
