back to the condo, again

October 12th, 2009

So, the closing day on my condo may be this Thursday. It’s been nearly two years, two lawyers, three prospective buyers, and many thousands of dollars out of my pocket – but I may be getting rid of the condo soon. Stay posted, I’ll update this blog with the news when it finally happens, in between dancing a jig and acting erratically joyous.

Meanwhile, I had to drive out to the condo to check a couple of things out. That’s a 60+ minute drive, and as soon as I arrive, my Mom calls me back! So, I have the opportunity to (finally) catch up with her. I got a few specifics about my nephew, Stavros, such as: he was born 4 lbs 13 oz and measured 17 inches. He can’t go home until he weighs at least 5 lbs, so he’s still in the hospital.

There was other news, but it’s family business on one hand and generally good on the other.

Finally getting to inspect the condo, I see that everything is A-OK. Water is running, toilets are working, power is still on – all OK. The toilet that my real estate agent feared was broken, was just dry from no one having flushed it in over six (6) months. While I was there, I had to move the washing machine out of it’s place so someone from the water utility could take a final reading on my water meter and then replace it.

The last piece of the puzzle will come from my lawyer. So I need to contact him and make sure all parties involved have agreed to the terms and that Thursday is the day. You have no idea how light I will feel with this burden lifted from my shoulders.

Long weekend is over, Columbus Day is over. Back to work tomorrow. There may be some more good news in that arena, as well – but I’ll wait until it’s a fait accompli before reporting.

On the down side, I never did record episodes zero and one of my new podcast. I procrastinated, and that’s bad. I should have enough material at least for these two ep’s and it’s more important that I get them recorded so I can fiddle around with editing. When they’re in the can, I can find a clever way to host and publish them and then … and only then … can I say that I’m a podcaster, too. Plus, I have a couple of interviews lined up and there’s no point in interviewing someone when I don’t, really, have a show. When I get my ep’s up … then I’ll be able to proceed with the interviews in good conscious.

I’ve stayed up far too late as it is. I need to get to bed. So, until then … sweet dreams and don’t let the bed bugs bite!
